Summer Camps

Summer Camps are Held in February

Year 7/8 - Around Te Anau Activities
(Indicative cost $20)

The Year 7 and Year 8 students remain at school during camp week, but are split into their year levels to participate in a range of exciting activities during the week. Past activities have included dance, triathlon, cooking, self defence, team challenge activities, leadership, Milford Sound trip, Kepler Birdsong activities, mountain biking, lake activities and swimming. This year a highlight was the problem solving in the pool - how do you all stand up together on a blow up ring without falling off!

Year 9 - Hope Arm Camp
(Indicative cost $45 plus food)

With this camp the students are dropped across the river at Manapouri and tramp into Hope Arm with their packs. They then pitch their tents and spend the week camping, cooking their own meals over an open fire. Activities include: environmental education, water sports and so much more.

Year 10 - Kayaking & Water Skills
(Indicative cost $190)

After a morning in the school pool the kayakers head out to Mavora Lakes to set up base camp. The students pitch tents (which are home for the week) and also cook their own meals. During the week they are given lake instruction, learn river, white water and beginners slalom, rafting and tubing.

or Year 10 - Cycle Tour
(Indicative cost $190)

This camp is a favourite with the students. The students cycle from Te Anau to Queenstown via Mavora Lakes Rd, crossing Lake Wakatipu on the Earnslaw from Walter Peak. After a rest day in Queenstown the return trip follows the same route in reverse.

Year 11 - Kepler Tramp
(Indicative cost $65)

The Kepler Track is right on our doorstep and a “must do” for a lot of students.  During this camp students will spend four full days tramping and staying overnight in huts around the Kepler Track.

Year 12 - Careers Week
(Indicative cost $20)

The week is career focussed. Students develop a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and gain valuable interview skills. Personal development is a key area.  At the end of the week students visit the Southern Institue of Technology SIT to explorer career options.

Year 13 - Leadership Camp
(Indicative cost $40)

A two night camp at the start of the school year, from which students are selected to assist as student leaders on other summer camps. The camp concentrates on building leadership skills and is based at Boyd Creek.
