Parents and Teachers Working Together

The Fiordland College Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of parents and teachers that meets approximately once a month. The purpose of the group is to bring parents and teachers together to support the school in providing the best education possible for the students in its care and also to provide an opportunity for parents to meet together. The support for the College includes fundraising for resources and facilities that benefit the students and also in providing an important sounding board for school initiatives.

Meetings

Meetings are held approximately once a month and are informal and friendly. At each meeting the Principal provides a report on the activities of the school over the past month. 

Meetings are held in the School Library on the 2nd Tuesday of each month starting at 7.30pm.

Fundraising

The major fundraising activity of the PTA is the Milford Mountain Classic - a road cycle race from Milford Sound to Te Anau, held in January.

Funds raised by the PTA have been used, for example,  to support the school musical production,  to purchase sporting uniforms and tracksuits for school teams, class calculators, a bike trailer and a projector for use the gymnasium.
